Celebrating Our Amazing ESOs
This week at St Kieran’s we celebrated the role of our dedicated and amazing Education Support Officers (ESOs). These incredible humans truly make our school the special place it is!
Our ESOs support students in countless ways—helping to make learning easier, more enjoyable and more accessible for so many of our children. Their care, commitment and kindness shine through in everything they do.
Together with our teaching staff, students and parents, we say a big thank you to our ESOs. St Kieran’s is a stronger and happier community because of the work they do each day.
Swimming Program
A huge thank you to all the parents and grandparents who helped make our swimming program such a success last week. Your support, whether it was encouraging your child to get into the water, assisting with changeroom and basketball court supervision or encouraging from the sidelines, helped everything run smoothly.
Swimming is not only a valuable life skill but also an important part of building confidence, resilience and fitness. We encourage families to continue swimming lessons beyond the school program to ensure that children maintain and develop their skills. Regular practice helps children become safe, strong and confident swimmers, something especially important in our Australian context.
Thank you once again for your partnership in keeping our students safe and active.
Hats at School
Please ensure your child has their school hat. Students who do not have a school hat will need to sit in a designated shade area at recess and lunch time.

Father's Day Afternoon
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our Father’s Day Afternoon last Thursday. We were overwhelmed by the enormous response from our community. It was so pleasing to see so many students spending quality time with their dads and father figures within our school environment.
The afternoon was filled with smiles, laughter and connection, and it was a wonderful reminder of the important role fathers and special men play in the lives of our students. Thank you for helping make it such a memorable occasion for our children.

Grandparents Day - Thursday 16th Oct
We are excited to announce that Grandparents Day will be held on Thursday 16th October from 1.40pm – 2.40pm.
This special afternoon is an opportunity to celebrate the wonderful role grandparents play in the lives of our children. Grandparents are invited to visit classrooms and take part in fun activities with their grandchildren. It’s always a highlight on our school calendar and a beautiful chance for students to share their learning with those who mean so much to them.
We encourage all families to share this date with grandparents and special older friends so they can join us. Please pop it in the diary—we would love to see as many grandparents as possible on the day!
Footy Day - Thursday 18th September
Get ready to celebrate Footy Day at St Kieran’s next Thursday, 18th September! Students are encouraged to come dressed in their footy colours and enjoy a day filled with fun and active footy activities.
Our incredible Parents & Friends Association will be providing free footy food for lunch as a way of thanking all families for their generous support of our canteen fundraiser throughout the term. This will include hot dogs and zooper doopers (max 1 combo per child) on this day. Ordering is now open on CDF Pay for this and closes at 8:30am Thursday morning - snacks, drinks and ice creams are also available for purchase.
Please pop this date in your calendar and remember—no school uniforms on the day! Let’s make it a colourful and exciting celebration of footy spirit at St Kieran’s.

Student Artwork
These students are part of our lunchtime art club and they were chosen to create a canvas for entry into the Rotary Student Art Show. They have worked hard over the last term to create some inspiring, personal and creative paintings. The Art Show opens on Saturday 20th September and we wish all the students the very best for the show.

SchoolTV Report: Celebrating Father's Day
For many years now, the role of fathers has changed and evolved. During the industrial revolution, fathers were often considered detached and distant due to working long hours in factories. However, today things have changed dramatically with many dads being celebrated for being sensitive, caring and more hands-on.
Recent studies have shown that children benefit greatly from having fathers who are present and interacting in everyday activities. This has transformed the understanding of how fathers shape children’s lives from the start, challenging conventional ideas of parenthood and gender.
Research also suggests that fathers influence their sons and daughters in different ways, which is especially true during their transition to adolescence. Engaging in regular physical activities can play a key role in influencing children to learn self-control, face challenges, regulate emotions and take manageable risks.
In this Special Report, fathers will learn about the positive impact they can have on their child’s mental health and wellbeing, whilst also ensuring they indulge in a little self-care.
We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered in this Special Report, and as always, we welcome your feedback.
If you do have any concerns about the wellbeing of your child, please contact the school for further information or seek medical or professional help.
