Dear Families,
What a massive first three weeks it has been for our students especially at the top end of the school. We have had St Kieran's Day, a bullying incursion, a science incursion, district athletics, AFL X, ANZAC Day and today the students are so excited about their mums visiting the classrooms.
As always it was so warming to see so many St Kieran's families attend the Moe Anzac Day March. Families from all primary schools in the Moe area hold the keys to ensuring the ANZAC spirit lives on as we continue to share the stories of our past. St Kieran's certainly leads the way with so many families attending year after year.
I strongly encourage our families to register for the Karen Young zoom on Tuesday night. As parents, there are many things we can tweak to ensure technology, peers and the way we parent, don't have a negative impact on our child's social and academic development. Karen is an expert in her field and we wouldn't have gone to so much effort to gain her services if we didn't feel there was a significant need.
Have a great weekend and please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns or queries.

Year 3 Camp - The Summit
The year 3 students enjoyed a fantastic day at the Summit in Term 1. They were able to navigate through obstacle courses and find clues in the scavenger hunt. The absolute favourite of most was the awesome flying fox that sent the children soaring across the lake.

Dodgeball, the highlight of Lowanna Open Day.
Last Wednesday, our Grade 5 and 6 students became high school students for a day with an excursion to Lowanna College. They got to experience some of the classes on offer such as Tech and Language, as well as a concert put on by the talented music students. But the most fun part was P.E. class where they got to play a dodgeball round-robin with other schools. They dodged those balls like they dodge homework! Many students expressed how much fun they had over the course of the day and how excited they were for high school.

AFL X, lots of fun, and even a trophy to bring home!
On our first day back this term, some keen grade 4s, 5s and 6s walked over to the racecourse to participate in AFL X, a modified round-robin style tournament against a number of other local schools. This day is run by Lowanna and is always an anticipated date in the senior school calendar. This year we entered four teams - A Boys Championship, Girls Championship and two Boys Participation teams. All did very well, and had lots of fun, but our Boys Championship team was the one to bring home the trophy for their division this time!

District Athletics
On Tuesday last week, a group of St Kieran’s students had the opportunity to participate in the District Athletics. This day sees our best athletes compete against the best of other local schools in a jam-packed day full of track and field events. We were extremely lucky that the weather held out for most of the day and we managed to squeeze in all events except for the relay at the end. Our school was represented extremely well and all students should be proud of their efforts.

Celebrating St Kieran's Day
On Wednesday 7th May we celebrated St. Kieran's day. It was a wonderful celebration of the wonderful Christian values that our school community shows including respect, friendship, working with others, hope and love for learning and others. This year students developed their understanding in Aboriginal culture from Peta Murray, played Indigenous games, completed a STEM challenge from a bible story and completed art pieces celebrating the Catholic Education Week theme of Year of Jubilee- Pilgrims of Hope. It was a really fun day. Thank you to everyone that was involved.Student feelings towards the day:
STEM- I liked the paper jacket activity because Xavier and Lily dressed me up. We had to use problem solving, listening to others and working together- Isabella (Grade 4)
Art- I liked when we did the art with paint and pastels. We painted a starry sky and the moon. I liked that everyones was different and they didn't look the same- Anastasia (Grade 3)
Aboriginal Culture- I liked the Aboriginal Culture session. I can't actually describe it, it was so fun. I learnt all about boomerangs. -Charlie K (Grade 4)
Sport- I liked when I tried to knock the bottles down. I liked when you had to skip and do a dance move in the air. We had to work as a team to make your balls hit. (Grade 1)

Thank you to our wonderful Mums!

A big thank you to the Mums who organised and ran the Mother's Day stall yesterday. We also thank all the Mums who volunteer to help out weekly with our Tuck Shop and many other things in the background!
Your time and effort is incredibly appreciated!
We hope all the Mums and special people have a fabulous day on Sunday!
Sun Hats out, Winter Beanies are in!

Sun hat wearing at school is coming to an end as the cooler weather is upon us. Sun hats will not longer be required after Mothers Day weekend, starting Monday 12th May.
Winter school beanies are available to purchase now from CDF pay. The beanies are an optional part of the uniform and are not compulsory to wear.
